About WISE
The Wisconsin Initiative for Superior Education (WISE) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming the educational experience for students in rural Wisconsin. By funding academic enrichment programs and providing access to essential resources, WISE empowers students to pursue opportunities that are often out of reach in underserved areas. Founded by Isabella Dereszkiewicz-Hodowany and Ophelia Linnan, WISE was born out of a realization that rural schools frequently lack the resources to support advanced programs, such as mock trial clubs, which are readily available in larger, urban schools. Instead of feeling discouraged by this disparity, we were motivated to take action and ensure that students in rural areas have access to the same enriching opportunities that ignite passions and prepare them for future success. WISE bridges gaps in educational equity by creating hands-on learning experiences that foster curiosity and growth. By supporting teachers and partnering with local businesses, we strive to build a collaborative community that equips every student with the tools they need to succeed—whether in college, a career, or other endeavors. Through sponsorships and community engagement, we amplify our message and expand our reach, inspiring others to join us in creating a brighter future for Wisconsin’s students. Together, we are redefining what is possible in education for rural communities.
